Wes and Rachel: New Orleans Surprise Proposal Photography
New Orleans Surprise Proposal Photography in the French Quarter
Wes and Rachel
After photographing New Orleans Surprise Proposals for several years, Royal Carriages reached out to me to partner with them. They got calls for surprise proposals all the time but didn’t have anyone in house set up to help guys (and the occasional gal!) plan them. I was already helping the love-birds who came to me for photography plan their proposals. So I happily agreed to be their go-to. Adding a carriage ride to a proposal can be logistically tricky but is absolutely no sweat when you have a pro on your side.
Wes reached out to me after chatting with the folks at Royal Carriages about planning a surprise proposal. He wasn’t from New Orleans and didn’t know his way around a French Quarter Surprise Proposal. But I did! We got together on google maps and did a virtual French Quarter tour so he could pick out his perfect spot. I helped him choose the right time of day and best side of the street to propose on so his photos would be perfect. We kept in touch right up until he boarded the carriage making sure he was more than ready for the big moment. I had a nice chat with his carriage driver, Johnathan, that morning to come up with a good backstory on why they would stop and get out of the carriage.
Wes spotted me on the sidewalk pretending to be a tourist waiting on an uber. The carriage pulled over and I tossed Wes a wink and sent my assistant to block cars for a moment halfway down the block. We didn’t want anything disturbing his proposal. On the other side of the street, Wes dropped to one knee and got the “Yes!” he’d hoped for from his love, Rachel. Meanwhile, I’m in the middle of the street crying like a big mushy romantic, snapping away. Life as a New Orleans Surprise Proposal Photographer is pretty sweet, really.
