Nick and Lauren: New Orleans Couple's Photography
New Orleans Couple’s Photography
Nick and Lauren’s Anniversary Photos in the French Quarter and City Park
It isn’t often that men hire me for couple’s photography. Surprise Proposal photography, sure. But when it comes to engagement photos or anniversary photos or even wedding photography, it is typically women that contact me. But in this case, Nick really wanted couple’s photos with his wife, Lauren. It was their tenth wedding anniversary and they’d never had a couples’ photo session before! We decided to split our time between the French Quarter and City Park to get both the historic architecture and the Southern Louisiana swamp vibe.
These two barely stopped laughing the whole two hours. At one point I asked Lauren if her face hurt from smiling so much (it did) and if they always laughed this much (they did). To me, lots of laughter is a sign of a lasting relationship. And considering these two had been together for 14 years, I think I might be correct! Nick cracked jokes the whole time and Lauren told me funny stories about living in Florida. If these two lived in New Orleans, there is no doubt we would be fast friends.
If the old saying “April showers bring May flowers” is true then we are going to have a bum rush of blooms next month. It has not stopped raining here for what feels like weeks. We were concerned about rain the day of their session but got lucky when it stopped earlier in the afternoon. Unfortunately, City Park was flooded. They were good sports, though, working with me while we walked a bit further than normal to find dry ground to pose them on. We ended up finding what might be my new favorite portrait tree! Obstacles force me to shake things up and that’s never a bad thing. It can be easy to go back to the same locations over and over because you know they work. I love it when a couple allows me the time to explore a bit and try some new things.
