How to pull off the perfect Surprise Proposal in New Orleans

Everything you need to know for Proposing in New Orleans

You know you’ve met the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. It might be hard to pinpoint the exact moment you knew, but there is no doubt in your mind that they are the one. Now all you need to do is stage a surprise proposal! Easy, right? Maybe. Or maybe you need a little help. That’s where I come in!

Does anyone ever say no?

The most common question people ask me is “does anyone ever say no?”.

The short answer is “no. never.”.

The long answer is that anyone who invests in a surprise proposal expert to capture the moment knows without a doubt that their partner is ready to tie the knot.

You’ve probably talked about getting married or what your dream wedding looks like or what cliff overlooking the ocean on an exotic island you’d prefer to tie the knot on (that last one, that’d be me).

Step one in planning a surprise proposal is making damn sure your partner is ready for you to pop the question.

Do I need to hire a photographer?

Well, that depends.

If you know your partner is an exceptionally private person and would be mortified to have that moment witnessed by a stranger (to them, anyway, you and me are going to be buds before you ever drop to a knee), then I’d suggest skipping photography. Which, you know, is kind of a self-defeating thing for a New Orleans surprise proposal photographer to say. But I’m not here to make anybody uncomfortable!

I’m here to help you create the proposal of your partner’s dreams while capturing stunning images to boot.

Is your partner the type to always want to take photos with you or sometimes laments that you don’t have enough photos together? Do they have photos of you (or you two together) framed around the house, stuck to the fridge, and as their phone background? Are they the one to immediately race to social media to post photos of big events (or little events like the bomb ass salad they made last night, you know- the one with the feta and cranberries and pecans)? Then you should probably hire a photographer.

They will not only be thrilled by their newly minted fiancé status, but they’ll be over the moon that you thought to have the moment captured.

Proposals happen FAST. I’m talking 15-30 seconds at most. Which feels like forever when you’re waiting for your burrito to heat up. But when it’s one of the most memorable moments of your relationship, you’ll blink and it will be over.

Having the moment photographed is the way to guarantee that memory never blurs around the edges (unless, of course, you’re talking about my shallow depth of field in the images then, yeah, there’s gonna be some beautifully blurred edges).

What’s the whole proposal planning thing about?

I’m so glad you asked! After photographing proposals for nearly a decade I realized I was helping a lot of my clients plan their moment. From location, to time of day, to what to wear, to how to get their partner to dress up, to hiring musicians and carriages and magicians and florists and and and… I was helping them do it all.

So I started offering planning services as part of photography packages. It not only makes my job more enjoyable but it makes everything so much easier for my clients.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the sigh of relief on the other end of the phone when a lovebird realizes they don’t have to make the proposal happen all by themself. I got you, boo!

Alright, I’m sold. I need a surprise proposal expert. So how does it work?

Once you’ve decided you could use a helping hand to guide you through your proposal planning, we get to work. I tell you how to communicate with me covertly (and I’m at your beck and call anytime you need) and we set up a time for a planning call.

We’ll go over location options together, discuss the perfect time for the perfect light, and map out where you need to go to get to the spot (particularly if you’re an out-of-towner).

If you want to add any details to your proposal like flowers, signage, celebratory beverages, confetti cannons, magicians, musicians, horse-drawn carriages, pedicabs, fancy dinner, picnic in the park, fireworks (JK not fireworks those things are illegal AF in Orleans Parish) or whatever you’re dreaming of, I’ll help you plan the details and collect some quotes for you (and with over a decade in the New Orleans wedding industry and as a lifelong resident of the Big Easy, I know a LOT of excellent industry pros). I’ll even book those folks for you as well.

After that you literally only need to show up and propose. Really. That’s it. I do all the leg work so you don’t have to. When you work with New Orleans’ only Surprise Proposal Expert you have “Less stress and More ‘Yes!’” (that’s pretty good, right? Came up with that myself).

In addition to being there for you every step of the way, you’ll receive my Proposal Success Guide PDF. It’s full of helpful tips I’ve collected through photographing over 100 surprise proposals.

Because you aren’t just proposing, you’re being photographed proposing. And there are a few things you may not have considered!
