Tanya and Barlow are one of those couples you meet and instantly feel like you’ve known them forever. We first got together to talk about their wedding plans late last year. They didn’t take themselves- or each other- too seriously and we had a great meeting with lots of laughs. It was fun watching the way Tanya pretended to give Barlow side eye at the jokes he made- but I could tell she actually found them pretty funny. I really loved hearing Tanya’s story of how Barlow proposed. Hearing the proposal story from the perspective of the person being asked is one of my favorite ways to get to know a couple. Hearing it with the one who did the asking sitting at their side makes it even better- Barlow’s interjections were endlessly amusing! I instantly knew I was going to love working with this couple and we planned to shoot once the city calmed down after Mardi Gras.
Barlow proposed to Tanya in New Orleans City Park so we decided to do their engagement photo session there. The forever fabulous Midori did Tanya’s makeup, Tanya styled both of their outfits and Barlow picked out a wonderful handmade fascinator at Trashy Diva to complete Tanya’s look. These guys tie the knot in Orlando on Mardi Gras Day 2017!
On a personal note, Tanya was my first client to find me on Instagram! If you’re not following me yet click here to do so!
Here are some of my favorite images from our shoot.
