A pediatrician in the final year of her residency, Sarah admitted that she doesn’t often have time to do her hair and makeup. So when she arrived to her Bridal shoot looking like she just stepped out of a fairy tale, I knew she felt as much like a princess as she looked. Looking breathtaking in her lace mermaid gown and purple heels, she and her mother walked down the sidewalk in New Orleans’ City Park. Her mother beamed with pride looking at her beautiful daughter now transformed into a stunning bride and I couldn’t help but pop off a couple of candid shots!
The weather forecast for her wedding the following Saturday was not looking great. I was very worried that it would get rained out and we wouldn’t have the ability to use the outdoor locations at Destrehan Plantation for portraits (sadly, I was right). My plan was to use as many locations at City Park as we could and Sarah was a happy camper, falling into posing effortlessly even while being nagged by mosquitos. I was nervous that she wouldn’t want to walk out into the woods in her dress but she loved the idea saying she felt most at home surrounded by trees. The result was a beautiful set of Bridal photos that the Bride loves.
While we took advantage of some seriously cool backlight in the Peristyle, we grew a bit of an audience from some nearby picnickers. “What magazine are y’all shooting for?” they asked Sarah. “It’s for my wedding!” she answered with a laugh. The onlookers were right- she looked so elegant she could have walked right out of a bridal magazine!
The hardest part of this shoot was having to wait to share the images until after the wedding! Now that Sarah is honeymooning with her husband Edmund in Bora Bora I can present to you my favorites from our session without spoiling any surprises!
The gorgeous bouquet was created by the phenomenal artists over at Flora Savage 1301 Royal st in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
