As a New Orleans Wedding Photographer, I really love getting the chance to photograph my brides alone on their day surrounded by the beauty of this city. However, wedding days are hectic with a lot of moving parts and sometimes we just don’t have time to whisk the bride off to a good photo location. That’s where the Bridal Session comes in! I love being able to take my time with a Bride, making sure she looks absolutely perfect in every image. And I think a Bride really likes getting the chance to see herself with her hair and makeup done, holding a gorgeous bouquet, wearing that perfect dress. Any anxiety about the big day melts as she sees herself as a Bride for the first time. No matter what happens on the big day, she will always have images of herself looking flawless in her dress, anticipating seeing her Groom on their day.
I always say the hardest part of a Bridal session is waiting until after the wedding to share the photos! After months of planning with a couple, I get so excited to finally see a Bride in her dress. It’s tough to not run home and immediately upload the best shots. But for Alaina and Jonathan’s wedding, we had some prints made to put out at the reception which at least gave me a chance to get editing! I loved going through all of the shots from our Bridal Session at The Chicory. Alaina looked absolutely stunning! With flawless makeup by Midori Tajiri-Byrd and an elegant up-do from Tommy Centanni (both of Embodyment Salon), Alaina stepped into her Wedding Belles gown and looked perfectly put together. Add a fabulous bouquet from Bella Blooms Floral and the result was breathtaking. I’m so happy we were able to shoot inside of The Chicory, the venue for Alaina and Jonathan’s wedding. I love their distressed brick walls and gas lights plus the sunlight streaming in from their huge walls of windows was perfect for a few natural light portraits. I would be remiss if I did not mention the ever-amazing Kelley Mitchell of Nola Weddings and Events for planning this fantastic wedding and being at Alaina’s side every step of the way. She’s a real-life Wonder Woman if I’ve ever seen one!
Here are a handful of my favorites from our session.
