Although they now call New York home, Diana and Andrew are both originally from New Orleans. They decided to tie the knot in their hometown and on November 14th, 2015, they said I Do overlooking the mighty Mississippi river. Before their big day, we wanted to do an engagement session in a location that really captured their shared roots. They had the fabulous idea of shooting in the swamp and I couldn’t have picked a better location.
The weather was perfect for a Southern Louisiana engagement photography session out at Jean Lafitte. The weekend’s rain had subsided but unfortunately left behind the biggest, funkiest mosquitos I’ve ever encountered in nearly 3 decades of life near the swamp. Even though we knew we should bring bug spray, we all forgot and they were on us faster than we could even say mosquito. So after rescuing Diana from nearly getting carried away by the nasty buggers, we headed down the road to a corner store where we found some Avon Skin So Soft and doused ourselves like we were putting out a fire(A Southern Louisiana secret, Skin So Soft is a bath oil that also keeps bugs away. It smells nice and makes your skin, well, so soft!). It was smooth sailing from then on out with the sun dropping behind the Cypress trees, illuminating the moss and framing the lovely couple beautifully.
Stay tuned for Diana and Andrew’s wedding photography soon!
