Whenever I meet with a couple to talk about their wedding, I always tell them one very important tidbit: things are going to go wrong. Things won’t go as planned, stuff will get messed up and you know what? It really doesn’t matter. At the end of it all, you’ll be married, you’ll have one hell of a good time, and you’ll have some gorgeous photos to show off. One of the best examples I’ve witnessed of this was Erin and Hunter’s wedding. Four days before what was to be a wedding in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, they were informed that their venue had lost its permits and they would have to move both the ceremony and reception. Holy wow, what?!? But Erin handled the news like a champ and got to work with her killer wedding planner, Hily, to find their new venue.
And what they got was so incredibly perfect.
They moved their ceremony to the Iron Works on Piety street in the Bywater (just a stone’s throw from their original venue). The ceremony was staged in front of a beautiful iron wall that was decorated with candles and flowers. There was a warehouse and yard across the street that was perfect for their food truck catered reception and this little photographer was more than a little bit excited about the idea of having Crescent Park as a location for their portraits. New Orleans skyline at sunset as a backdrop? Yes, please! And, just as I always remind my clients, at the end of their day they had a gorgeous wedding that was full of laughter, love, family and friends, and they now have beautiful images to keep their cherished memories as fresh in their minds as they are in their hearts.
